Reigning Miss USA Nia Sanchez And Actor Luis Guzman To Host Hispanicize 2015 Positive Impact Awards

27 Feb – Reigning Miss USA Nia Sanchez and actor Luis Guzman will serve as masters of ceremony for the Positive Impact Awards sponsored by 3M, during Hispanicize 2015, the nation’s premier Latino trends event for digital influencers, marketers, journalists, musicians, filmmakers and tech leaders. Now in its sixth year, Hispanicize 2015 ( will take place in Miami at the InterContinental Miami Hotel from March 16-20, 2015.

Nia and Luis will lead the March 19 red carpet dinner gala recognizing this year’s Positive Impact Award winners and their five projects that are being honored by Hispanicize and 3M for outstanding and selfless work with the Latino community in the United States. As a tribute to the winners of the prestigious award (see the full list of winners here) Latin GRAMMY-winning artist Luis Fonsi will perform to celebrate their achievements.

“Nia and Luis are the perfect duo to emcee this program because they themselves are examples of doing good for your community,” said Hispanicize Event founder and creative director Manny Ruiz. “Together they will highlight the stories of these honorees who demonstrate that individuals can be committed, positive influences in their communities across the country.”

Anindya Kusuma was crowned Miss Universe Indonesia 2015

26 Feb – Anindya Kusuma was crowned Miss Universe Indonesia 2015 at the Puteri Indonesia 2015 Pageant, held at the Plenary Hall of the Jakarta Convention Center, Friday, February 20, 2015. Kusuma is fromSemarang, Central Java, and beat out 36 other finalists from 32 provinces in Indonesia. She was crowned by Miss Universe Indonesia 201, Elvira Devinamira and Miss Universe 2014, Paulina Vega from Colombia.

Miss Teen USA 2014, K. Lee Graham attends the Viennese Opera Ball

Miss Teen USA 2014, K. Lee Graham attend the 60th Viennese Opera Ball in New York City. She presented the debutaunts before their performance as a special guest of honor. The 60th Viennese Opera Ball is a “Diamond Jubilee” charity event. Held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel under the auspices of the US Austrian Chambers of Commerce and is a nonprofit association. The proceeds of this event go to the American Institute of Musical Studies in an attempt to support the education of music. The ball held performances such as a debutant choreographed dance by “Hienz Heidenreich” and Opera performances.


Miss USA’s Tae Kwon Do-Inspired Workout Routine

Though the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants aren’t all about looks (there’s a talent portion to the competition too, okay?), appearance obviously plays into the results pretty heavily. That’s a fact that becomes even more apparent when you look at the rockin’ body of current Miss USA Nia Sanchez (who narrowly missed winning the Miss Universe crown last month).

To get in (literally) kick-butt shape for both pageants, Sanchez did Tae Kwon Do-inspired workouts. “I love the competitive aspect of Tae Kwon Do,” says Sanchez, who started as a kid. “When I first signed up, my dad would have to make me go to class because I was so shy, but once I competed in my first tournament I was hooked—I couldn’t get enough!”

Michael Phelps Engaged to Nicole Johnson, Miss California USA 2010

24 Feb – Michael Phelps is engaged! And he’s announced the happy news in the cutest way. The 29-year-old 22-time Olympic medalist and swimming champion is set to marry longtime girlfriend Nicole Johnson, Miss California USA 2010. Phelps revealed their engagement late on Saturday via a gorgeous Instagram photo of her embracing and laying on top of him on snow, showcasing a sparkling ring as the two grin from ear to ear. “She said yes,” he wrote.

Beauty queens help Pittsburgh Chapter of the Organization of Chinese Americans usher in the Lunar New Year

24 Feb – The Organization of Chinese Americans ushered in the Lunar New Year with a celebration of the Year of the Ram (or Goat), an animal symbolizing “more room for diplomacy,” shared Karen Yee. “We need that now.”

With close to 400 guests filtering into the Syria Shriners Center on Feb. 21, the evening brought together OCA prez Kai Lin, honorary chair Dr. Savio L-Y. Woo, and master of ceremoniesJulienne Shaw — also the first Asian American to win the Miss Pennsylvania Teen USA Title in 2002.


It was Shaw’s involvement that paved the way for the support from subsequent beauty queens, which this year included Miss USA 2013 Erin Brady Capasso and Miss Teen USA 2012 Logan West, as well as 2015 titleholders Ashley Golebiewski, Savannah Giammarco, Gretchen Reece, Kassidy Tharp, Jackie Croft, Alex Marek, Andrea Mucino, Cora King, Elizabeth Cardillo, and Jasmine Daniels.
