It takes her a few tries, but the former Ohio University guard finally gets it going. “I was better at this in college,” she concedes. Maybe, but as far as basketball fans are concerned, there’s no one more on the ball than this 26-year-old CBS sports reporter.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News after she was crowned on Sunday night, Wurtzbach said she plans to make the most out of her reign, noting that “it was a long journey getting here.”

“I’m very happy, obviously. I’m super excited. I always said that when I win, I’m going to be the busiest queen because I’m going to make the most out of the year, my reign. I was first runner-up in 2013 and I didn’t make it last year. Now, I finally did. It was a long journey getting here. I’m not going to waste this,” she said.

“I always said to myself that after this, I’m going to have a celebratory meal, but it looks like that’s not going to happen. I have to start training as soon as possible and I’m really excited,” she added.

BANUANG DAAN EXPRESSES GRATITUDE

12 Mar

Cordaid.org –Barangay Banuang Daan wants to extend their gratitude to the Ms. Universe Foundation, since the organisation has played a big role in how they are building back better.

After having been hit by super typhoon Haiyan, a lot of organisations (both local and international) and various government sectors have come to help the barangay.

BD thanks Ms. U

“So many things have changed since Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) in 2013. By change, I meant for the better. Our community has really improved since then,” Banuang Daan’s barangay captain Bienvenido Abella said.

Housing and infrastructure projects have been underway since last year; and more proposals will be processed in the months to come—including livelihood initiatives and activities to make us more prepared for the next typhoon.

“If only there is a way to repay all these, we’re sure to spend our whole lives trying to return the favour. I guess, the best thing that we could do is to take good care of what they have provided us,” Abella said.
